Director/ Lead GSRP Teacher

Alison McCormick aka Miss Ali-
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Teaching Certificate with a ZS endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. My passion for early childhood began when I was very little and has continued to grow. I started working in child care at 16 years old. For the last 8 years I have been a Lead Teacher and 4 of those years I have been specifically in GSRP. During that time I spent 6 months in South Korea teaching English. I truly believe in what we do and the importance of play based learning. I enjoy everyday I am at school with the children and watching them grow!

Full Day Associate GSRP Teacher

Kristin Kapp aka Miss Kristy-

Lead Teacher (Tuition/GSRP Blend)

Emily Smith aka Miss Emily-
I earned my Bachelor's Degree of Science in Early Childhood Education through Rochester College. Prior to my current position I worked as an associate teacher for over 10 years. I am a firm believer in the research stating that children have better school success when they are given a head start i.e. Preschool, GSRP, Head Start, etc.

Associate Teacher (Tuition/GSRP Blend)

Marty Doubblestein aka Miss Marty-
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. prior to working at Lake Fenton, I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Pathfinder Elementary in Fremont, MI. Teaching young children is such a joy for me as I get to see them grow and learn everyday.

The Curriculum

Curriculum --- Creative Curriculum®

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool uses exploration and discovery as a way of learning, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. Creative Curriculum is based on 38 objectives for development and learning, which are fully aligned with the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-kindergarten. Creative Curriculum presents knowledge-building volumes and daily practice resources in tandem, giving every educator the “what,” “why” and “how” of early childhood education. Creative Curriculum offers daily opportunities to individualize instruction, helping teachers meet the needs of every type of learner. Creative Curriculum addresses all the important areas of learning, from social-emotional and math to technology and the arts, and incorporates them throughout every part of everyday. Creative Curriculum offers daily, built-in opportunities for observation, helping teachers and administrators clearly see the strong relationship between curriculum and assessment. Creative Curriculum offers complete support for working with English- and dual-language learners, including detailed guidance that helps to build teachers’ knowledge about best practices. Creative Curriculum contains guidance for working with all learners, including advanced learners and children with disabilities.

Teaching Gold Strategies

Teaching Strategies GOLD® is an authentic observation-based assessment system for children from birth through kindergarten. The system may be implemented with any developmentally appropriate curriculum. It blends ongoing observational assessment for all areas of development and learning with performance tasks for selected predictors of school success in the areas of literacy and numeracy. Teaching Strategies GOLD® can be used to assess all children, including English-language learners, children with disabilities, and children who demonstrate competencies beyond typical developmental expectations.

The primary purpose of Teaching Strategies GOLD® is to document children’s learning over time, inform instruction, and facilitate communication with families and other stakeholders.

Teaching Strategies GOLD® enables educators to focus on and measure the knowledge, skills, and behaviors most predictive of school success. The tool has a total of 38 objectives. Two objectives are related specifically to English language acquisition, and the other 36 objectives are organized into nine areas of development and content-area learning. The areas are

• Social–Emotional

• Physical

• Language

• Cognitive

• Literacy

• Mathematics

• Science and Technology

• The Arts

All children will be observed throughout the year using TS Gold. We will share information and reports from TS Gold during conferences. Creative Curriculum and TS Gold align.
